Warning: Weirdo Amongst Us

Image result for weirdoI am a “weirdo.” Period.  So, we’re talking about brainstorming, and I have to confess that my brainstorming, and other creative processes are very much influenced by being an only child.  As an only child, I learned to do things by myself–or with mature adults, who ultimately cultivated my disdain for immature behavior in my peers.  #SorryNotSorry

Why I am a weirdo?

Great question.  I think I am a weirdo because I don’t put much thought into how I do what I do creatively…I just do it!  Even as we were charged to brainstorm on the culminating project, I was stumped because–I have already created my project.  I have thought about it since day one, so the charge to put myself through a creative process that I have already completed seemed both futile and redundant.

Do I see the value in the process?  Sure.

Do I need the process(es)? No.

Yet again, I find myself stumped because I rarely deviate from the way that I think and get to an end result.  Now, am I open to new experiences–always, but not at the risk of getting what I need the way that I need to get it.  These ideation exercises do not seem to get me closer to solving a problem.  However, I take great joy in seeing how others have applied (or not applied) these exercises to their own processes and what that has manifested for them.  That’s what is awesome for me–seeing others grow and learn things about themselves that they didn’t know before.

As for me, I am fine with being a little “weirdo.”
