Why I Became a Professor

About seven years ago, I decided that I was tired of interviewing marketing graduates. They didn’t know anything…but had 4.0 GPAs. They just knew that they could come work for my agency and be successful.

TRY AGAIN!

It was then that I decided to be a professor. However, I thought that I could just waltz right in. After all, I wasn’t just a marketer–I was an “award-winning” marketer. So of course I could teach.

NOPE!

This girl had to get an MBA…so she did. Sort of. The first attempt was futile because it had no motivation. So, when I went back, I was on SchoPro (Scholastic Probation). Eventually I would take my 1.5 GPA to a 3.5 GPA…graduate, and go get my “professoring” on!

So, everyday, I am blessed to do JUST WHAT I WANT TO DO! Teach, coach, create–it’s AWESOME! That’s the life I have been privileged to create for myself. So, when I tell you that an abundant life is your Divine birthright, I am not just telling you something that I am making up. I AM LIVING IT! IT’S MY TRUTH! Yes, it required something of me, but it is still the life I wanted.

P.S. This is in no way a perfect life. There are challenges and obstacles to overcome…but it is easier knowing that I don’t spend the majority of my life doing what I don’t want to do…
